National DNA database: An election issue for Black Britain - Parliamentary reception Print

Parliamentary reception: From 7.00 - 9.00 pm on Tuesday 2nd March on the impact of the National Criminal DNA database on Britain's African Caribbean communities hosted by James Brokenshire MP, shadow minister for crime reduction.

This event is free to attend, but does require registration, and is part of BMH UK's public education strategy and has been organised in association with GeneWatch UK.  Those who attend will be informed and  about provisions within the Crime and Security Bill , which is currently being debated in parliament and it's impact on people from the UK's African Caribbean communites.

The urgent need to address the issue of the over representation of innocent people from ethnic minorities who are profiled on the criminal DNA database is now recognised as an election issue for black Britons.   

Speakers: Senior home affiars spokespeople from the three main political parties,  experts from GeneWatch UK, Liberty, Black Mental Health UK.

Veune: Committee Room 14, The House of Commons, Westminster, SW1A 0AA. Map .

Time: 7.00 - 9.00pm 

NB: Those attending need to arrive at least 20 minutes before the event to allow time for the security checks. Please note that Committee Room 14 is a ten minute walk from the entrance.
