The report, compiled by the National Patient Safety Agency, acknowledges the likelihood of underreporting of incidents. It also calls for a new definition of “harm” in incident reports to include psychological trauma. Officials have been aware of the report for more than eight months, but published it only (July 18 2006)   (yesterday) — a week after The Times revealed its contents.  Soucre The Times online

Other publications have stated this report has revealed at least, 122 reported sexual incidents, including 19 reported rapes, in mental health care settings between November 2003 and September 2005. This is almost one reported rape a month. In 11 of the 19 reported rapes, the alleged perpetrator was a member of staff. The NHS litigation authority has also received three claims for compensation following unwanted pregnancies.  Source Popan (Witness against abuse by health & care workers)
