costs_of_race_inequality.jpg This policy paper produced by the Sainbury Centre for Mental Health makes it clear that there is an extensive body of evidence to show that there a significant difference in the way Black African and Caribbean people who come into contact with mental health services and the treatment they receive compared with the rest of the population. 

This policy paper by  bolsters the case for better mental health service for Black people which could yield a double benefit: of improved outcomes and lower financial costs.
This policy paper lays out the business case for addressing the racial discrimination within mental health services as well as acknowledging the health and equity case.

Authors point out the need to substantiate this hypothesis in detail and the policy paper should be seen as primarily illustrative. They also state that based on calculations presented the potential for re-allocating resources in a beneficial way if very substantial.
