This report details service user experience of in-patient mental health services.
Black and mixed heritage respondents expressed what has been voiced in a catalogue of reports over the last thirty years on this issue, that services are seriously failing to provide relevant, supportive, respectful care and that service users are wary of professionals attitudes

Collated with a view to assist commissioners and providers of mental health care to offer culturally appropriate services.

This report makes it clear that these matters cannot be left to resolve themselves and recommends all commissioners and providers of metal health services take heed. The Mental Health Act Commissions Chief Executive concludes in the forward of this report  that the ‘mounting evidence of BME patients' poor experiences of care will at last shame services into action.
